What Does Mass Transit Mean to Washtenaw County? With My First Poll! May 6, 2010

The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) currently handles mass transit throughout Washtenaw County.  They have had their critics over the years, but I think the future is bright.  After a productive meeting with the new CEO, Michael Ford, I am hopeful that Washtenaw County will look different 10 years from now.  Don’t get me wrong, I like the way it looks now.  However, there is room for improvement.

Be on the lookout over the next 6 months for community input opportunities on the future of transit in our county.  Michael has hired a consulting firm to help us with the vision and master plan process.  AATA has a strong commitment to building what residents want AND what residents will use!  Eventually, the Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners may become the transit authority, so I will be working closely with AATA during this process on behalf of the residents.  Please consider lending your voice when the opportunity comes.  The economic success of our community may depend on it.  Link to AATA site for more information.
